VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - Authorities in Valdosta are asking residents to avoid contact with water in Sugar Creek after a sanitary sewer spill.
Officials with the City of Valdosta are saying they discovered a sanitary sewer spill in the 1400 block of Gornto Road. The spill was caused by nearly 4 inches of rain fall within a 24-hour time frame.
They are asking residents to avoid contact with the water in Sugar Creek until November 11.
The area has been disinfected and wastewater has been recovered according to officials. They say the water will continue to be monitored and tested.
