VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Troopers said that one Valdosta man is dead after his car overturned multiple times into a ditch.
The Georgia State Patrol said that the crash on Fender Road happened around 2 a.m. on Monday.
They said that Michael Johnson, 43, was driving east on Fender Road near Whitewater Road when he started to go around a curve. When he did, troopers said that he over-corrected his steering to the left.
This caused the car to begin to rotate counterclockwise off the roadway and into a ditch. Troopers said that when the car met the ditch, the car came off the ground and began overturning multiple times.
They said that Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene.
Troopers suspect that speed might have been a factor in the crash as well as alcohol, however, they are waiting on a toxicology report to confirm their suspicions.
They said that Johnson did however have his seat belt on. No charges will be filed in the crash.
