VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - A man has been arrested in Valdosta after authorities say he fled from a driver's license checkpoint and almost hit an officer in the process.
The Valdosta Police Department says 25-year-old Eddie Shine stopped at the driver's license checkpoint and gave officers a false name.
When police told Shine to turn off his vehicle, he revved the engine and began driving. Police say an officer had to jump out of the way but was not injured.
Additional officers chased Shine and eventually caught him when he drove off the road and got stuck in the mud.
Shine was taken to the Lowndes County Jail and is being charged for not having a valid license, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
