VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A Valdosta man is behind bars after police say he was caught stealing meat from a freezer.
Valdosta police were called to the 600 block of East Gordon Street on Wednesday after reports of a home burglary.
Police say the owner of that home found 39-year-old Tarence Mitchell in the kitchen stuffing frozen meat into a bag.
When they approached him, police said Mitchell ran off but was later found and arrested by police.
The homeowner told officers that the a backdoor may have been left unlocked.
Mitchell has been charged with burglary. However, VPD said that the meat was never found.
