VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - Firefighters said they spent over five hours putting out and cleaning up a building fire in Valdosta.
The Valdosta Fire Department said that they were called to a building fire East Hill Ave. around 2:30 a.m. on Friday. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof.
Firefighters said they started trying to put out the flames as soon as they arrived. They used aerial master streams and multiple water hoses to extinguish the fire.
They said there was a total of 23 firefighters at the scene when they left at 8 a.m. They also said that the building was unoccupied and there were no injuries.
VFD estimated damages to be around $25,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
