Valdosta Fire Takes Two Hours to Extinguish, VFD Investigating

VALDOSTA, GA. (WTXL)-- According to the Valdosta Fire Department, a structure fire at 1011 East Hill Avenue in Valdosta took over two hours to put out.

VFD says that units were called to the scene around 2:23 a.m. Saturday. Reports state that the fire was visible while in route to the structure and when they arrived smoke and flames were coming from the roof of the home.

Additional help was called in to a reported, 9 fire apparatus's and 27 fire personnel on the scene. The fire was contained by an aggressive attack by firefighters around 4:15 a.m.

The building was not occupied and there were no injuries reported. VFD states, this fire is under investigation and no damage assessments are available at this time.
