VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) -- Valdosta fire fighters are working to save lives in another way.
Valdosta Fire Department is taking part in Muscular Dystrophy Association's annual "Fill The Boot" drive. It begins Thursday, September 2 at Noon at Valdosta Fire Department's Station #1.
This is the 60th year VFD has partnered with MDA to raise money and awareness to benefit children and adults affected by muscle disease in the Valdosta area.
"The Valdosta firefighters are proud to be partners with MDA in the fight against the life-threatening muscle disease," said Valdosta Fire Chief Freddie Broome. "We hope our efforts will bring some relief-and eventually a cure-to people in our community who are affected by the disease. Every dollar helps."
The campaign will continue through Saturday, September 6 from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. each day at the following locations:
- Walmart Supercenter (340 Norman Drive)
- Walmart Supercenter (3274 Inner Perimeter Road)
- Winn Dixie (all four stores in Valdosta)
