VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Valdosta Fire Department is lighting all their fire stations with pink lights, and they're allowing you to pick up the lightbulbs so you can as well.

VFD has partnered with Get-A-Mammy or GAM in an effort to light the city pink.

GAM is a local non profit organization that collects money for mammograms for women in need of financial assistance, breast cancer research, as well as reconstructive surgery to qualified applicants.

"Since 2010, GAM has raised thousands of dollars to help over 100 men and women in this region receive mammograms, several of which were diagnosed with breast cancer," said GAM President Tracy Thomas. "Until we find a cure, we must find it early."

The lightbulbs, which are available for a small $5 donation, can be picked up at the Valdosta Fire Department administration office (106 South Oak Street) .

The money collected will be donated to GAM.
