VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Students at Valdosta City elementary schools will start wearing school uniforms next year.

On Tuesday, the Valdosta Board of Education voted unanimously to go to the new dress code for kindergarten through 5th grade students.

According to the Valdosta City Schools website, the dress code will start in the 2018-19 academic year.

Those students will be required to wear solid yellow, black,or white shirts with black or khaki shorts, pants, or skirts/skorts.

The shorts, skirts, and skorts must follow the current dress code when it comes to the length and condition.

Dr. Todd Cason, superintendent, is still finalizing the guidance for the K-5 uniform dress code with the principals.  Additional information will be released following that approval.
