Valdosta detectives arrest man on drug charges

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Valdosta Police arrest a man on drug charges.

Police say on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at about 1:21 p.m., Narcotics Detectives followed up on a tip that there was someone with drugs on him in the 600 block of Hudson Street. When they arrived, they made contact with 42-year old Willie Hunter of Valdosta. Detectives say Hunter then assaulted one of the detectives, and that detective's K9 bit Hunter.

Hunter ran off but was found hiding under a nearby home. He was taken to South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC) for treatment of the dog bite.

Detectives say they found several pieces of crack cocaine.

Hunter faces charges of possession with intent to distribute-cocaine, felony obstruction, misdemeanor obstruction, and tampering with evidence.

When Hunter is released from SGMC, he will be taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
