VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is searching for two suspects after a vehicle chase that resulted in shots fired.

Around 3:30am Monday, a Georgia state trooper was patroling Highway 41 on the southside of Valdosta in the Hudson Docket area, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The officer saw a silver Nissan Sentra speeding and pulled the car over. The GBI says that the vehicle attempted to flee and then pulled over into an empty parking lot.

Steve Turner from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says that the officer then got out of his car to speak with the suspects when they "may have used the car as a weapon" by trying to run over the officer.

The officer then shot at the vehicle as it drove off. GBI says that the officer shot at the suspects' vehicle as it drove off.

Turner says that the officer is "slightly injured."

According to the GBI, the only description of the suspects is two black males. They are still searching for the suspects.
