Valdosta, GA (WTXL) - A fire in a Valdosta apartment complex displaced 17 people from their homes. One was severely injured and flown to Shands Hospital.
According to the fire department, the injured victim is being treated for smoke inhalation and possible burns.
The other 16 displaced victims are receiving help finding temporary homes by the Red Cross.
The fire department stated the flames were visible from the top floor when they arrived.
The incident was caused by an unattended cooking fire.
There is an estimated $125,000 of damage. Eight units of the apartment were impacted.
The complex is located at 617 Vallotton Drive.
