TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - In February 2016, our first-ever "Building Tallahassee" report highlighted development concerns along the North Monroe Corridor, including the fate of the former Ramada Inn off I-10.

The Ramada Inn has sat vacant since 2010, but now, it will finally be remodeled into a Days Inn, bringing life to what many have called an eyesore for years.

City records show a company located in Fort Walton Beach is working on the transformation. The 13 acre property was sold for $3.4 million.

The new owner tells us he's planning to open it as a 120 unit hotel with five conference rooms. This comes not long after Captain D's opened across the street.

The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce says this means economic growth for the city.

" ," said Jay Revell, who's with the chamber of commerce. "

The goal is to have the turnaround done by football season, when hotels in the area typically see more business.
