(WTXL) - As veterans were celebrated for their service, a clinical worker offered tips on what military heroes can do to cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Professionals say if you think you may be suffering from the condition, there are several options for treatment in southwest Georgia.

Experts advise veterans to go to a VA clinic for help if you suffer from triggers, intrusive memories or loss of sleep.

Professionals can help you with medical treatments and assessments.

They say the diagnosis does not have to be debilitating.

Richard Garrett, a licensed clinical social worker offered this advice. "People can recover from PTSD," he said. "It's not a permanent disability and I think that is probably the most important message I would give people."
