TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Sergeant Ernest "Boots" Thomas VA Clinic will dedicate a new marker honoring veterans.
WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Wednesday morning to tell how this marker is different from what is normally seen.
This marker isn't just for looking at; it's for touching. And it's aimed at honoring the blind veterans right in our community.
The Sergeant Ernest I. "Boots" Thomas VA Clinic is unveiling a special bronze braille American flag this Wednesday morning in honor of the more than 1000 blind veterans currently receiving services within the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System.
The bronze flag features the Pledge of Allegiance in braille.
If you'd like to be a part of the dedication, it begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the lobby of the VA Clinic on East Orange Avenue.
The flag was donated to the clinic by Georgia vet Walt Peters and the Florida Regional Group Blind Veterans Association.
Peters is now legally blind and has since made it his mission to dedicate Flags at as many VA facilities as possible.
