TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - At the city commission meeting on Wednesday, StarMetro gave an update regarding bus routes, the Dial-A-Ride program and various bus stops within the city.
The bus stop at the VA Clinic gained quite a bit of attention during the meeting. Right now, there is a bench, but commissioners feel like that's not enough.
In fact, several of the board members, including Gil Ziffer agreed that the location of this particular bus stop needs a shelter to help block out the sun and rain, something that it does not currently have.
On clear and mild days, having just the bench in the open is not a big problem. IT's during the middle of summer, winter, and rain storms that our veterans should be protected from the elements.
This bench is used mainly used by the men and women who have served our country and the board of commissioners feel they deserve to be sheltered from unsavory weather conditions.
After speaking with the city, it appears that StarMetro will be installing a shelter around the bench next week, weather permitting.
Some of the veterans WTXL spoke to were just happy to have a bench to sit on, but soon, they'll be able to wait for their ride in any weather conditions without worry.
