TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – The USDA Forest Service will waive fees at most of its day-use recreation sites during Veterans Day weekend.
The fee waiver program is in cooperation with other federal land management agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act.
Fees are waived for day-use areas, such as picnic grounds, developed trailheads and destination visitor centers. Concessionaire operated sites may be included in the waiver if the permit holder wishes to participate.
“We encourage everyone to get out and see what our three national forests have to offer,” said Forest Supervisor Kelly Russell. “There’s something for everyone, from hiking, biking and camping, to birdwatching and enjoying the tranquility and solitude of being out in the great outdoors.”
