ST. PETE BEACH, FL (WFTS/CNN) - 'Tis the season for porch pirates. You know, the folks who help themselves to the packages left on your doorstep while you’re away from home.
Jovita Acute-Parker is a recent victim. The problem is the man who stole her package was the same one that delivered it.
UPS driver Jason Christopher Mohn is in trouble after surveillance video appears to show him stealing the package from her front porch that he put there a few hours earlier.
"It's unbelievable," she said. "I've heard of all the thefts going on. I never thought it would happen in my neighborhood."
Investigators arrested Mohn for stealing the new smartphone that was in the package and charged him with grand theft.
"He just went straight for that box," Acute-Parker said, watching her home surveillance video.
"He must have seen that I have two cameras on the porch!? He should have seen it,” she said with a laugh. "Stupidest thief ever."
She's also laughing because there's also another video of him from two hours earlier.
"I’m pull up the video of the guy … Oh my god, it's the same guy," Acute-Parker said. "Same clothes, same shoes, same cap, same sweater."
Acute-Parker says it's still debatable which job he's worse at – delivering or stealing.
"Look out for the cameras if you're trying to steal something," is her advice.
A police report says Mohn's UPS supervisor found the phone in his personal belongings at work, so Acute-Parker was able to get it back.
