Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A tree that was uprooted during Hurricane Michael caused an estimated 1,100 gallons of untreated domestic wastewater to overflow in Tallahassee.

On Friday at about 8:45 a.m., a sanitary sewer overflow was discovered at 502 Vinnedge Ride.

Crews responded immediately and found that a tree that was uprooted during Hurricane Michael caused a crack in a gravity main. They were able to stop the overflow by 10:45 a.m. and estimated that 1,100 gallons of volume was lost.

Crews said there were no off-site impacts and there is no threat to public health.

Crews will be fixing the gravity main and disinfecting the area.
