UPDATE: Woman dies after high speed chase

THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL)--A woman who deputies say may have been responsible for two robberies in Thomas County has died after a high speed chase.

Her name has not been released but Georgia State Patrol troopers say she died at Archbold Memorial Hospital Saturday morning.

Deputies say the robberies happened at a bank in Pavo and at Carol Hill Package Store in Thomasville Friday afternoon.

Troopers say the woman lost control of the car on Highway 188, outside of Coolidge, hit a guardrail, and then overturned into water.

Her body will be autopsied next week.

THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL)-- Deputies in South Georgia are waiting to talk to a woman involved in a crash earlier Friday that they believe could be responsible for a string of robberies.

The crash happened on Highway 188 just west of Coolidge. The first robbery occurred just after 1 p.m. at Carroll Hill Package Store in Thomasville. The second an hour later at a bank in Pavo. 

The woman is being treated at Archbold Medical Center. No word yet on her condition.
