UPDATE: Valdosta shooting victim dies, suspect in custody

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)--The victim shot multiple times in Valdosta has died.

Police aren't releasing his name until family members are notified.

The shooting happened at Park Chase Apartments on Old Statenville Road just before 5 p.m.

Police say shortly after detectives arrived on scene, they were able to identify the shooter.

Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress tells us they issued a "Be On the Look Out" or BOLO to find him. They said they had reason to believe the suspect was trying to leave the state of Georgia. 

Police say 18-year old Brian Levon Charlton-Simmons of Valdosta was picked up by Hamilton County deputies Saturday evening.

Investigators are working to file a murder charge against him.

Chief Childress says the shooting happened after a previous argument at a nightclub between the victim and the suspect.

Additional charges could follow.

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)--Valdosta Police are on the scene of a shooting at Park Chase Apartments.

That's on Old Statenville Road. Police say shots were fired just before five p.m.

Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress says a male victim was shot several times and taken to South Georgia Medical Center.

We are working to find out the condition of the victim.

Police say they haven't made any arrests.
