UPDATE: Valdosta Shooting Victim Dies; Police Searching for Killer

UPDATE, 10:03pm, 8/17/15 (WTXL) - Valdosta Police say Damaria Hill has passed away from injuries sustained in the shooting Sunday afternoon on Caldwell Drive.

Additional charges will be filed against 18-year old Eric Simmons. Police are still looking for him, and consider him to be armed and dangerous. They are asking anyone who has seen him or who knows where he is to call 911 or their local law enforcement agency.

UPDATE, 8/17/15 (WTXL) - The victim, Damaria Hill, is still in critical condition and is now at another medical facility receiving treatment, according to Valdosta Police.

Police are still looking for Eric Simmons, 18, of Valdosta. He is the person they believe shot Hill. Police say Simmons has left the area, but they are working with other law enforcement agencies to try and find him.

Arrest warrants have been signed on Simmons for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to VPD Capt. Bobby McGraw.

VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - Valdosta Police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Around noon, officers responded to a shooting at a home in the 2300 block of Caldwell Drive. That's where they found 18-year-old Damaria Hill suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to police, Hill was found outside of a home when he was confronted by the suspect. A fight took place, and then Hill was shot.

According to the police report, the suspect fled immediately after, but investigators said they know who the suspect is and are following leads. 

Police have not released the suspect's name.
