VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)--The search is on for a murderer.

Valdosta Police is now offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who they say murdered a beauty store employee.

At this point, any tip is a lead. There's some evidence they have but to really solve this case it's going to take the public's help.

Ashley Beauty Supply is now closed but the case surrounding the murder of one its employees is open.

"This man had a wife who was down here Saturday morning in tears," said Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress. "This man had children. I'm asking the public to call and tell us who did this. This is not right."

The reward is a new push they hope will bring information leading to an arrest.

The murder happened Friday night. They say someone walked in Ashley Beauty Supply stole money and shot Kanwaljit Serai to death.

"We've never experienced anything like this in plaza happening before," said Jimmy Boyd. "It was tragic. We didn't see it coming."

Businesses in the strip center are being extra cautious, like Jimmy Boyd, the owner of Prepaid Superstore Express.

"We're right now in the process of getting security cameras and things like that," said Boyd. "We had such a family atmosphere here in the plaza. We never thought we needed it but hindsight is 20/20."

Police say evidence from the crime scene is being processed.

We do know there were some video gaming machines in the back of the store. Police say the machines were in compliance with Georgia law. They haven't commented on whether the machines and the robbery are connected.

If you have any information on the crime, Valdosta Police want you to call them at 293-3091.

They say there could be more than one person involved.
