UPDATE JANUARY 18, 2013 11:40 a.m.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (TPD) - Tallahassee police are releasing details about a high speed chase that ended with a crash at a local Shell Station.
It all started sometime around 10 p.m. on Thursday evening, according to a police report. Officers were investigating a robbery scene on Columbia Street before the incident.
One of the officers left the scene as more police arrived. On his way from the scene; he spotted a vehicle acting suspiciously. The officer said the driver was "spinning the tires" to get away from the patrol car. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, and the car sped away.
In the process, the vehicle struck a Ford Mustang, but the officer says that didn't stop the suspect. The driver reportedly sped through Dixie Drive and hit a white BMW in the parking lot of the Shell Station located at 2410 West Pensacola Street. The vehicle came to a stop at the center gas pump.
The chase didn't end there. Police say both suspects got out of the vehicle and began to run between the buildings of 120 White Drive and 119 Dixie Drive. The officer chased them on foot, and tried to tase them, but the taser failed twice.
One of the suspects, a passenger in the vehicle, saw the taser and surrendered. However, police say the driver kept running, and the officer lost him. He was later found hiding behind trash cans just behind Dixie Drive.
Police were able to identify the passenger as 26-year-old Darrell Paramore. He is being charged with resisting a police officer without violence. The driver has been identified as 19-year-old Samuel Paramore. He is charged with three counts of hit and run, one count of resisting officer without violence, and operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license.
Police aren't saying if the suspects are connected to the robbery on Columbia Street.
