HAMILTON CO., Fla. -- Prescribed burns are continuing in Suwannee County and Hamilton County. As a result, Florida troopers are asking drivers to be careful on roads in both counties.
In Hamilton County, there is burn in Stephen Forster State Park. Smoke could impact roads in the area, including the following: US 41 and US 441, I-10 and I-75.
In both Suwannee and Hamilton Counties, there will be a prescribed burn at Suwannee River State Park. The burn will cover nearly 100 acres. Smoke is expected to impact areas of State Road 10, Interstate 10, and Interstate 75.
If you're driving in this area, troopers ask you to drive carefully. The smoke is expected to impact the roadways the most at night and the early morning. Reduce your speed, watch for advisory signs, and use low beam headlights if visibility is reduced. Consider an alternate route if possible.
Smoky conditions are expected to continue over the next several days.
