TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Leon County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal traffic crash that happened Wednesday afternoon on West Tennessee Street.
Deputies say it happened near the intersection of West Tennessee Street and Bethel Church Road. According to their preliminary investigation, the collision happened as 43-year-old David Brumfield was headed eastbound in a silver 2005 Ford Ranger. For unknown reasons, Brumfield reportedly crossed through the grass median and into oncoming traffic.
Deputies say another driver, 38-year-old Kenneth Baker, attempted to steer his GMC Sierra away the impending crash. However, the Ford Ranger did strike the trailer Baker was towing.
Preliminary reports from an autopsy performed Thursday shows that Brumfiled died as a result of multiple injuries consistent with the traffic crash.
Baker was not injured in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
