Update: Death Investigation of Jessica Shelly Continues
Leon County Sheriff’s Detectives continue the investigation into the death of Jessica Shelly. An autopsy
has confirmed that Shelly died as the result of a gunshot wound. All persons involved with this
investigation have been identified, interviewed and are cooperating with detectives to determine the
circumstances which led to the death of Shelly. Detectives have collected physical evidence which has
been submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for forensic analysis.

At 3:33 am, on Thursday, June 20, 2013, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2000 block
of Mandrell Court in reference to a disturbance. When deputies arrived they discovered the body of 38
year-old Jessica Shelly inside the residence. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Crime
Scene Unit responded to the scene, canvassed the neighborhood, conducted interviews and collected
physical evidence.
The investigation into Shelly’s death is continuing. LCSO has conducted interviews with multiple
persons in this investigation and is continuing to collect and process physical evidence. An autopsy is
scheduled for Friday, June 21, 2013.
