TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--It's day 3 in the capital murder trial of the Tallahassee man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend.

Elijah James is charged with killing his on-again, off-again girlfriend Danielle brown.

James' sister and brother took the stand Wednesday.

They said the day after brown disappeared, James asked to go to Lowe's home improvement store in Thomasville.

This is video of James inside of the Lowes store buying several items.

James is shown holding a shovel, carpet cleaner, a chainsaw, and a gas can. A receipt shows James purchased more than $170 dollars of items from Lowes, and paid in cash.

James also bought a heavy duty sponge, knit gloves, and a package of saw chain

His brother says he went into the store alone

"You remember what he came out of Lowes with? I saw a few things he had , maybe a chainsaw, I can't vividly remember, a chainsaw, a gas can, and a few other things," said Curtis Presley.

These are all items the prosecution believes James used to get rid of evidence linking him to brown's disappearance

this is video of investigators searching brown's car that was set on fire in Pavo, Georgia's city dump.

prosecutors say they found a nozzle to from a gas can in the front seat. The car was only torched on the inside. The defense questioned whether or not the nozzle matched the same gas can James had purchased from Lowes.

But James was convicted for the arson of brown's car back in 2011.

The defense questioned whether or not that nozzle matched the same gas can purchased by James.

The defense witnesses in this case haven't taken the stand, but the attorney Greg Cummings tell me it'll probably be Tuesday of next week.
