BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL)--Georgia State Patrol troopers say the teens were leaving their morning football practice when they crashed.
Troopers say that 19-year old Jicarre Watkins was driving a Ford Expedition this morning on Webster Road when he hit a tree. He and two other passengers, Johnie Parker and Shawn Waters were killed. De'vron Whitfield was injured and was taken to Shand's Hospital in Gainesville.
Troopers say they weren't wearing their seatbelts and that speed may have been a factor in the crash.
A vigil is getting underway right now at the Brooks County High gymnasium, instead of the regularly scheduled board meeting. School board members told us earlier Tuesday their thoughts and prayers are with the family. Many of you also writing in on our Facebook page your thoughts.
