University says Retired FAMU Dean Emerita Sybil C. Mobley has Died

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - FAMU School of Business and Industry Dean, Emerita Sybil C. Mobley has died according to the university.

In a statement on the Florida A&M University Facebook page, officials said "The Rattler family mourns the loss of the FAMU School of Business and Industry Dean Emerita Sybil C. Mobley. Mobley's dedication to FAMU and tireless efforts on behalf of students and alumni helped SBI gain international notoriety. #FAMURemembers"

According to FAMU, Mobley founded the School of Business and Industry in 1974. In 2007, the building for the department was named in her honor.

Representative Alan Williams, a graduate of the FAMU School of Business and former student of Mobley, released a statement saying, "Dr. Mobley's leadership style and warm personality were among the hallmarks of her service. Throughout her life, Dean Mobley's dedication to teaching, research and service inspired countless students and alumni and reflected her determination to make FAMU a great university."
