TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Florida A&M University president Elmira Mangum has named a new director for the school's marching band, known as the "FAMU Marching 100."
Dr. Shelby Chipman, an associate music professor and director of symphonic bands, will take over the position, currently held by Sylvester Young.
According to the university, Young will stay at FAMU, returning to the classroom full time.
Young has led the FAMU Marching 100 since May 2013.
