ORLANDO, Fla. (WTXL) -- Universal Orlando is hiring thousands of new employees and raising its starting pay.
The resort just opened their new Cabana Bay each Resort and is preparing for the grand opening in June of the new Harry Potter inspired Diagon Alley. Universal Orlando is also going through a major rehaul and renovation of its downtown CityWalk center.
To prepare, the theme park resort is hiring 3,500 new employees. Many are full-time, part-time, and seasonal position. Starting June 1, the wage will go from $8 an hour to $9 an hour.
The new rate is above the approximate $8.00 an hour rate offered at competing Walt Disney World, however Disney reps announced recently they will be raising their wages to $10 an hour within the next two years.
