ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — University of Georgia President Jere Morehead outlined several strategies to improve the school during his recent state of the university address.
Morehead delivered his second state of the university address as UGA president on Wednesday. The Athens Banner-Herald reports one of Morehead's goals for the university is to increase the diversity of faculty and staff. Morehead says he wants the school's Office of Institutional Diversity to conduct a campus climate survey and start a $25,000 endowment to support diversity training and recruiting.
Morehead also suggested an experiential learning requirement for students beginning in fall 2016 to help students support classroom knowledge with practical experience.
Among other things, Morehead also said the school needs to increase its endowment to ensure that more money is available for scholarships.
