GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The University of Florida is changing the name of its records management system known as "ISIS," a move being applauded by a student who is the cousin of a journalist killed by the terrorist organization of the same name.
The school was already in the process of upgrading its Integrated Student Information System database when several students raised concerns about the name.
Those concerned students included 20-year-old Emily Weiss, whose cousin Steven Sotloff was executed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.
Weiss told The Independent Florida Alligator (http://bit.ly/1wBgBXJ ) that she was disturbed by the name every time she logged into the system.
The school says it is unclear when the new system will be finished.
