GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A University of Florida physics professor died after being found unconscious in a campus bathroom.
The Gainesville Sun (http://bit.ly/1nZx23f) reports that 68-year-old Steven Detweiler was found in a locked bathroom at a campus recreation center on Monday.
Campus police say Detweiler, a marathon runner, had been running that morning before his collapse. Police say a fitness watch he was wearing showed he'd begun running at 5:30 a.m.
Officers administered CPR, and Detweiler was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Police say the probable cause of death was cardiac arrest.
Detweiler's faculty website said his research focused on black holes and gravitational waves.
