UF Health expands pediatric care in Tallahassee

Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - More pediatric patients in Tallahassee can now be seen by University of Florida physicians without making the long drive south to Gainesville.

University of Florida Health will be offering more specialties such as cardiology, genetics and surgery to it's Children's Medical Service Clinic on Phillips Road.

Before, patients would have to drive two hours before seeing a specialist for care, now doctors say this will not only make the patients happy but the community happy as well.

"Anything we can do to reduce the burden that some of these families have with children with chronic medical conditions is wonderful," said Dr. Christopher Jolley. "So by doing this we can give greater access to more physicians for these children without having to drive to Gainesville for those visits."

UF physicians will travel to Tallahassee once a month to see new and returning patients in person at the CMS site.
