ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Campus police say they've found no threat at the University of Central Florida library following unconfirmed reports of a man or woman with a gun, but the incident did lead to an unintended gunshot.
UCF police posted on their official Twitter page Tuesday that campus operations were returning to normal.
Officers had evacuated the library and searched it after receiving a social media report of a gunman or woman. The library was placed on lockdown, and police asked people to avoid the area.
Moments after the search concluded, spectators outside were startled by the sound of a gunshot. UCF spokeswoman Zenaida Kotala says an officer accidentally discharged his weapon while securing it in his vehicle.
UCF is one of the largest universities in the country, with over 60,000 students.
