TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida Senior U.S. Senator Bill Nelson will discuss election reform during an upcoming visit to Tallahassee.
Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Florida) will meet with state legislators on Wednesday to discuss election reform, including proposals to broaden voter access in Florida. Sen. Nelson will consider one measure that would allow students to use universities as early voting sites, and another that would allow for the creation of an online voter registration process.
Senator Nelson said he hopes progress on the issues will help honor the memory of late former Governor Reubin Askew, who passed away last week at the age of 85.
“Passage of measures like that would be a small but fitting tribute to Governor Askew, who loved teaching our students and who championed voter participation,” Nelson said.
After his meetings with state lawmakers, Nelson will attend former Governor Askew's memorial service in Tallahassee.
