TALLAHASSEE, FL -- U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy Devos is scheduled to be in the Capital City Tuesday.

The visit will include stops at Holy Comforter Episcopal School from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Devos will then visit Florida State University School from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Secretary Devos has been criticized in recent months after her comments referring to historically Black colleges and universities as “pioneers of school choice”.

Opposition to Devos’ visit came immediately after it was announced Monday including from Joanne McCall, president of the Florida Education Association.

“She has long shown her opposition to public schools, her support for unfettered vouchers and for-profit charter school chains and her desire to privatize all education in this nation,” McCall said.

Devos is set to continue her round of school visits throughout the week.
