JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - U.S. Marshals and Jackson County deputies have arrested a man wanted for beating a woman with a pistol before robbing her.
According to the victim, on June 13, Thabit Nadir Mateen drove her to a secluded area where he got a pistol.
He then hit her in the forehead, causing injury, and fired the weapon near her in an effort to intimidate her.
Mateen reportedly stole the victim’s phone, money, and medication.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Mateen and on Tuesday he was taken into custody at his residence on Jackson Rd. near Jacob, Fla. by the U.S. Marshal Task Force and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Division.
He was booked into the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
Mateen was charged with robbery with a gun, aggravated battery, and possession of a gun by a felon.
