Posted

(RNN) - Actor/director/writer Tyler Perry warned his Facebook followers that scams claiming he is giving away money are fake and asked them to spread the word.

The creator and star of the Madea films said in a social media video Tuesday that his team had to shut down posts every day making false claims about him.

"Do not give your information to these people," he said. "Do not give them anything. I don't know who they are, but every day we have to get 10, 20, 30 of those things shut down."

Adding, "I am not giving away anything" on Facebook, he asked people to share the video. The video had been viewed at least 4 million times in the 14 hours since he posted it and shared nearly 350,000 times.

"In my life, I'm a giver. I give a lot of things to a lot of people, to a lot of employees" Perry said. "Random things - cars, houses - I do. But that is not true - the Facebook stuff.

"I'm not giving away any things. Stop it, Devil."
