VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Valdosta Police have arrested two teens accused of shooting a victim in the head and torso after an argument.
The Valdosta Police Department says that Lawrence Franklin, 18, and Jahnard Brooks, 18, were arrested for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
They say that around 11:30 a.m. on July 15, 911 got a call that someone had been shot in the area of Shanna Circle, but the caller refused to identify themselves.
VPD found the victim in the 1700 block of East Moore Street, suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and torso.
Through an investigation, detectives learned that the victim had been in an argument with Franklin and Brooks. They said the argument escalated and one of the men pulled a gun on the victim.
The victim was shot once and tried to run away, but police say that Franklin and Brooks followed him, shooting him again.
The victim has since been released from the hospital.
On Sunday, VPD followed up on a citizen tip, and arrested Franklin. The next day, Brooks turned himself in.
“The Valdosta Police Department is grateful for the citizen’s tip in this case. That information, combined with the facts already known by the detectives led Mr. Franklin being taken into custody peacefully and without incident,” said Lieutenant Adam Bembry.
Both have been booked into the Lowndes County Jail.
