Two Officers Shot on I-75 in Crisp County, Interstate Shut Down After Chase

CRISP COUNTY, GA (WTXL) - A shooting in Crisp County, near Cordele, shut down Interstate 75 North, near mile marker 99, Thursday evening.

According to our affiliate WALB, an Ashburn Police officer and a Turner County Deputy were shot. Both were taken to Crisp Regional Hospital and are expected to be okay.

According to a report, the police officer was conducting a traffic stop on a car without a tag near mile mark 82. That's when the car took off.

Officials say the driver was female, and the passenger was a male. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say the driver was injured.
