JACKSON CO., Fla. (WTXL) - Two Marianna men are spending the night behind bars, charged with armed robbery.

Jackson County deputies say the two robbed a group of people on the Chipola River, then took off on a boat, leading deputies on a chase.

Patrick Ellingburg, 26, and Matthew Pettis, 22, were arrested after deputies ordered them to shore.

Victims told deputies that a gun had been pulled and the suspects ordered the victims to hand over cell phones and jewelry. Deputies say they saw one of them toss two of the cell phones into the river, and while Pettis was in the patrol car, he opened the door, trying to get Ellingburg out.

Both are facing multiple charges, including armed robbery and grand theft.
