SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Two men were arrested in Suwannee County after deputies say they attempted to steal an air conditioning unit and over 100 other items from a victim's home.

Steven Baisden, 35, and Michael Edwards, 48, were arrested by the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office on Sunday.

On June 17, SCSO received a 911 call from the victim who reported Baisden and Evans tried to rob his house. Deputies said that when the victim confronted Baisden and Evans, they fled the scene in a SUV.

Deputies were able to find the vehicle a short time after and tried to pull the SUV over, but Baisden, who was driving, refused to stop. After a brief pursuit, Baisden pulled over and deputies were able to take both men into custody.

While talking with deputies, the victim stated he was awakened by the sound of voices outside his bedroom window and then to the sound of someone breaking his window, removing the air conditioner.

Deputies and the victim discovered that the men had also entered several vehicles and a storage shed on the property.

They found that there were over 100 items removed from the vehicles and shed which were placed into boxes, buckets, and totes that were stacked into piles to make for quicker loading.

After being taken into custody, Baisden and Evans admitted to being on the property with the intent to steal the items but were interrupted by the homeowner.

Based on the evidence, Baisden is being charged with two counts of burglary, grand theft, driving while license suspended or revoked (3rd or subsequent offense), fleeing and eluding law enforcement, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and violation of probation.

Evans is being charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure.

Both were transported to Suwannee County Jail.
