ATLANTA (AP) — Two people have died in a crash after trying to flee from Georgia State troopers on Interstate 85 in DeKalb County.

Media outlets report that the chase started Thursday night on Buford Highway when a Saturn with three people inside sped away from troopers.

The car got onto I-85 South at Clairmont Road, where troopers attempted to stop the car using a pit maneuver. The suspect's car then drove the opposite way on the road and crashed head-on into a black Infiniti with a woman inside.

The driver and a passenger in the Saturn died. The woman in the Infiniti sustained serious head injuries.

Lanes were blocked while authorities investigated the scene. The state patrol is trying to identify those who died.
