COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL. (WTXL) - Two are dead after a near head-on collision Friday in Columbia County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 24 year old Ryan Todd Schaefer and 21 year old Ashley Rose Colvin were traveling in the Southbound lane of US-41 when Schaefer lost control of his Chevy Geo and swerved into on coming traffic hitting another vehicle.
That vehicle a Chevy Malibu was driven by Chad Robert Cato.
Schaefer was pronounced dead at the scene, Colvin was taken to Shands Lakeshore Hospital where she died of her injuries.
Cato suffered no injuries due to the accident.
FHP continue to investigate the accident.
