THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL)--The Thomasville Police Department is investigating a rash of car break-ins in the city.
Police say they've had 26 of them taking place since January 1, most of them happening in the downtown area.
Investigators are working on leads and information. They're hoping it will lead to the suspects responsible for the crimes.
Police say some of the vehicles were locked, but there are those that were left unlocked, which allowed the thieves easy access.
Police are reminding residents to secure their vehicles when they are unattended.
Anything of value including cash, wallets, purses, and cell phones is being taken from the vehicles.
Police encourage people to report anything suspicious. They say no report or complaint is too small for them to come out and investigate.
People are asked to call 911 or 226-2101 to report any suspicious activity.
