TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man and a woman after searching their home and discovering a large amount of drugs inside their home.

Willie Hart, 50, and Angela Benton, 37 were arrested Thursday morning after deputies served a search warrant at their home located in the 2100 block of Holton Street.

Their home is about 500 feet from Bond Elementary School and directly across the street from St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

Deputies found approximately 87.5 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 100.5 grams of powder cocaine, approximately 189 grams of cannabis, more than $5,000 in cash, a semi auto handgun and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Hart and Benton were arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility. Both were charged with trafficking cocaine, maintaining drug house, possession of cocaine within 1000 feet of a church, possession of cannabis within 1000 feet of a church, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hart is additionally being charged with tampering with evidence.

“I’d like to thank the members of our Vice Unit for their great work on this case. I am appalled but not surprised that drug dealers would be so brazen as to traffic drugs near the most fragile members of our community. It’s because of actions like these that the Leon County Sheriff’s Office will be relentless in our efforts to stop this type of activity in our community,” said Sheriff Walt McNeil.
