VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Police say a tip lead them to intercept a delivery of more than $10,000 worth of marijuana to a Valdosta home.

On Thursday, the Valdosta Police Department received information about a large amount of marijuana being delivered to a home in the 1100 block of Albert Street.

Detectives followed up with the information and began investigating. Through their investigation, they were able to intercept a delivery of approximately 513.5 grams of high grade marijuana.

Police say the drugs have a street value of $10,270.

Malachi Payne, 27, and Jasmine Anderson, 23, were arrested and both charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (felony), possession of marijuana within 1000 feet of a housing authority (felony), and possession of marijuana within 1000 feet of a park (felony).

“This is another example of the Valdosta Police Department working with our community to keep our city safe and keep drugs off the streets," stated Chief Brian Childress. "This is a perfect example of community policing.”
